My Life, my version of the story, my words.

Support Ian James Fight Brain Tumor.

It is hard for 8 year old Ian to understand why his vision gets poorer by the day, it gets worse when the first thing you do in the morning is a bout of nausea that no medication can eliminate & thirst that no amount of water can satisfy. He always asks if he will get well. Craniopharyngioma is a non-cancerous tumor that develops at the base of the brain near the pituitary gland and it affects children from the age of 5 to 14 years.
In 2013 at the age of 5 years, Ian James Ngari was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma, which is a brain tumor whose symptoms are headaches, nausea, vomiting and balance difficulties caused by the increase in pressure in the brain caused by the tumor. As it grows, it adds pressure on the Optic Nerve which affects vision. At the time, he was losing his vision in the left eye & a surgical procedure – craniotomy, was performed to eliminate the tumor. This was confirmed by an MRI which did not show any residue tumor. After a year, Ian developed occasional headaches and in January 2015, his vision in the right eye deteriorated. An MRI done in January and March 2015 indicated a recurrent cystic craniopharyngioma. The hormonal imbalance resulting from the damage of the pituitary by the tumor, leads to excessive thirst, excessive urination and stunted growth. His hormonal imbalances are evident in his body stature that has not changed much since his diagnosis. Doctors have been working on it by administering hormones and other medication to reduce thirst and the excessive urge to urinate. At his young age, learning has become a challenge because of his reduced vision and the behavioral problems that arise by the day due to the tumor.
A second surgery in India has been scheduled later this month. His dreams need to be preserved for him to achieve them. Ian is a bright child with a lot of potential. The family appeals for assistance from well-wishers in any form. Prayers, resources, finances and any other help will be appreciated.
Contributions are being sent in via Paybill No. 545424 (The Account No. is left blank). Progress on his treatment and his journey will be posted as we continue to pray and support Ian as well as the family. For further information and inquiries, kindly contact 0727899400, 0717457552, 0788520803.
